Cyborg throws strikes from standing and finishes the fight with a TKO victory

So Cyborg wins with a TKO victory at 3:40 of the third round.
Herschel Walker secured a TKO victory in his MMA debut against Greg Nagy in a very boring fight. Herschel Walker starts off by displaying his awkward, flat footed stance (you would think AkA would teach him a better stance) and throws a few leg kicks. Walker then begins his showboating and defends a takedown from Greg Nagy. Walker then gets a controlling position from the guard. Walker then gets into the crusifix position and starts some ground and pound. Round 2 was no more exciting than round 1. Walker gets some more leg kicks from his flat footed stance and gets a takedown. Walker then moves into the mount and slides up into a high mount. Nagy slips out of Walker's mount and the fight goes back to standing. Walker gets another takedown and gets Nagy's back and begins more ground and pound, and then Nagy turns into Walker and Walker returns to the mount. Round 3 is where the fight ends with a tko and Nagy realizes he is losing and tries to get throw some punches and then pulls guard and attempts an armbar, which walker defends with a stack. Nagy gives his back again and the ref calls the fight after Walker ground and pounds his way to victory with some strikes to the body and head. Walker definitely can make a name for himself in this sport, but he will have to train some more for better opponents!

LAWLER PULLS OFF VERY IMPRESSIVE VICTORY!

After a very uninteresting performance given by Lashley, Lawler gives a very impressive performance. If Lawler continued doing what he was before his KO victory, he would have probably gotten knocked out or got a decission loss. Manhoef kept his hands down while throwing combos and Lawler was smart to cover up. Anyone could see if Lawler threw a counter after a few punches from Manhoef, he would have landed some clean shots because Manhoef's hands were way down. And after doing exactly that, Lawler pulled off a VERY impressinve 1 hit KO victory and landed 1 more shot directly to the chin to finish him off. The fight ended at 3:33 of the first round.

Bobby Lashley Victorious over Wes Sims-But does he deserve it?

Bobby Lashley just finished his MMA debut fight against Wes Sims at 2:06 of the first round. Lashley landed a terrible takedown after some showboating by Wes Sims and finished it with a TKO (the ref should NOT have stopped it that early) with strikes from the guard. Lashley is satisfied with his performance but are the fans? I can safely say he should have finished that fight within the first minute, especially against Wes Sims, who took this fight on one week's notice and is in terrible shape. If Lashley had fought anyone else, he probably would have lost. Keep checking in for more Strikeforce Miami updates.

Action Movie Star Wants to Step Into the Cage!

Former action movie star Jean Claude Van Damme wants to prove that he can not only fight on the big screen, but in real life too! Van Damme wants to compete in a K1 event against former Olympian Somluck Kamsing. However, this fight could never take place in the US because of strict guidelines for MMA fighters over the age of 35. Sure, Randy Couture, Mark Coleman, Frank Trigg, and Matt Serra are all over the 35 year mark, but they can all meet the guidelines and fight on the main card of UFC 109 because they have experience and are in top physical shape. Can the same be said for Van Damme? Apparently not because the fight can not take place in the US because Van Damme did not meet requirements and his lack of experience. Could we see Van Damme step into a real MMA fight soon? Sure, just not in the US!

New YouTube Videos

UFC released a lot of new YouTube videos today and yesterday and they all have to do with the rapidly approaching UFC 109! Earlier I posted Matt Serra's first vlog post leading up to his fight against Frank Trigg, and it was hillarious! Serra is a funny guy, and this second video blog post is even funnier. Matt discusses the lead up to his fight, including training, his new school being built, and, best of all, trash talk!

Next up, Nate "The Great" Marquardt also talks briefly about his fight against Chael Sonnan. Nate sees holes in Sonnan's game, talks about his mental and physical preparing leading up to the fight, and basically talks about how he plans to go into this fight against a very well rounded fighter. Sonnan has great wrestling skills that can not be overlooked, and Marquardt acknowledges that in this video.

Paulo Thiago and Mike Swick each have videos packed with hightlight knockouts and discuss their plans to beat their opponent. This fight will be action packed and explosive, with Thiago getting better everyday after already putting on great performances in his past fights especially at UFC 106. Swick is one of the best welterweights in the UFC and will be a difficult opponent for Thiago. Don't miss this fight! And get a brief introduction to the fight now by watching these two videos:

And lastly, don't forget to check out the full UFC 109 preview:

UFC 113 Update

I posted earlier about UFC 113 and how it has been delayed for a week because the Mayweather vs Mosley boxing match. Back when I posted I was upset about UFC being delayed because the card was stacked. Now there is another reason to be upset about the fight being pushed back. One of the top UFC light heavyweight fighters, Forrest Griffin, will fight another light heavyweight who is in the top 10 list, Antonio Noguiera. Griffin always pushes the pace, rarely tires, and always puts on entertaining fights. The UFC 113 main card will be a much anticipated rematch between Lyoto Machida and top contender, Maricio Shogun Rua, and the winner of the Griffin Noguiera match will be within reach of a title fight against the winner of the headlining event. Back in 2007, Griffin defeated Shogun with a third round submission, so if he wins his fight and Shogun defeats Machida, we could see a rematch where the winner will receive the belt. Now if Griffin has to face Machida, the world might not get to see the fan favorite take back the light heavyweight title. Griffin is afraid to fight Machida as you can see in this video:(skip to 6 minutes to see Griffin talking about Machida, but Forrest is hillarious and I recommend watching the whole video!)
(also keep watching from  6 minutes to see Griffin discussing drinking urine)

I think the UFC will be able to top the historic UFC 100 with the fight cards at UFC 111, 112, or 113. And not to mention one of the most anticipated fights between Rashad and Rampage at UFC 114 or the completion of the Liddell Ortiz fights at UFC 115! This year should be great for the UFC after two weaker cards at UFC 109 and UFC 110 pass. The remainder of the card of UFC 113 is:

Kimbo Slice vs. Matt Mitrione(!!!!!)
Josh Koscheck vs. Paul Daley(!!!)
Patrick Cote vs. Alan Belcher(!!)
Jonathan Goulet vs. Marcus Davis
T.J. Grant vs. Johny Hendricks
Jeremy Stephens vs. Sam Stout

UFC News Updates

November 14th, 2009-UFC 105 was aired on this date free on Spike. Randy Couture battled Brandon Vera and landed a controversial unanimous decision victory. Mike Swick fought the number one contender for the welterweight belt, Dan Hardy. One of the most exciting knockouts was Andre Winner knocking out Rolando Delgado which you can see here:
(skip ahead to 3 minutes if you just want to see the devastating knockout)

But in a night filled with excitement, Dennis Kang did not get very lucky. Kang came to the UFC from Pride with a 31-10-1 record. But after losing to Michael Bisping, Kang had a UFC record of 1-2 and an overall record of 32-12-1 and was dropped from the UFC. But fans of Kang are in luck as he is going to compete in a Canadian fight promotion which is not very well known, W-1. The event will take place in March and will be billed as Bad Blood.

Also in UFC news,UFC 112 is scheduled to be confirmed for Abu Dhabi in the UAE. There will be a news conference 2 days from now on Wednesday and the location and date should be confirmed for April 10, 2010 in an open air facility in Abu Dhabi. The event will take place only 18 days after UFC 111 which will host 2 championship bouts (GSP vs Dan Hardy and Shane Carwin vs Frank Mir for the interim championship). The UFC 111 card will be hard to top with 2 championship bouts, but UFC 112 will be just as exciting. The main event will be a championship bout with two big name fighters-Anderson Silva, one of the top pound for pound fighters, against Vitor Belfort. Now that alone would not top UFC 111, but the co-main event will be a championship bout as well, similar to UFC 111, BJ Penn vs Frankie Edgar. And to add to the excitement, Matt Hughes (former welterweight champion) will be facing Renzo Gracie. The UFC seems to be going all out for March-April with Fight Night on March 20 with Jon Jones vs Brandon Vera as the main event, then UFC 111, and then an even better card with UFC 112. Let's see if the UFC will be able to keep pushing out exciting fight cards!

Addition to Strikeforce Miami Card

The Strikeforce:Miami card was already said to be better than the 2 upcoming UFC cards, and I agree with that! Before the addition, the card was Nick Diaz vs Marius Zaromskis, Cyborg vs Marloes Coenen, Robbie Lawler vs Greg Nagy, and finally Bobby Lashely did not have an announced opponent. Well Bobby Lashely, former WWE superstar, is going to face a UFC veteran who was also on TUF season 10 less than a week from now on January 30. So here is the big update: Bobby Lashely will be fighting Wes Sims on the main card of Strikeforce:Miami! Be sure to watch this event! It will be on Showtime, but there are plenty of other ways to watch, and if you check back in, I will be listing ways you can catch this event!

YouTube Videos That are Worth Watching!

First off, check out this hilarious video from YouTube filled with clips of funny MMA moments from various fight promotions!

And now for a great video about Mirko Cro Cop, former K1 and Pride fighter who now fights in the UFC! His next fight will be against Ben Rothwell at UFC 110. This video shows his knockout highlights, especially his knockouts with his dangerous kicks!

UFC 109 Betting Odds and Main Fight Card

So UFC 109 is now officially under 2 weeks away! This is a great time to start getting your bets in online/put in fantasy UFC votes! I posted my fantasy selection a few posts ago, be sure to check them out! So here are the official betting odds for the main card of UFC 109:
Randy Couture (-400) vs Mark Coleman (+300)
Nate Marquardt (-350) vs Chael Sonnen (+250)
Demian Maia (-375) vs Dan Miller (+275)
Matt Serra (-135) vs Frank Trigg (+105)
Also, this is old news, but in case you didn't know Josh Koscheck was originally supposed to fight Paulo Thiago (both fighters were on the main card of UFC 106) but he had to drop out due to an injury that is still unknown. However, the fight card will not suffer anymore because Mike Swick has replaced Koscheck to face Thiago. This fight card is not the greatest the UFC has seen, but it will definitely be entertaining, especially watching two legends during the main event. Don't miss it!
The old poster:

And the new updated poster (Koscheck vs Thiago taken out and the image was not replaced by Mike Swick, it was replaced altogether by Marquardt vs Sonnen)
